Corrosion Cell – ASTM G5

Description

The Corrosion Measuring Cells KMZ 3 and KMZ 5 are ideal for electrochemical corrosion measurements and general electrochemical measurements when used with a suitable potentiostat such as those from Ivium or PalmSens. The KMZ 5 is a water-jacketed version with cell container suitable for connection to constant temperature circulators.

The measuring cells have different cell tops with standard taper joints for accommodating the working and counter electrodes and an intermediate vessel with reference electrode and liquid junction tube including a Haber Luggin capillary. The cell allows for working electrodes with interchangeable specimen holder, cells for extended temperature ranges, and tailor-made cells, e.g. for quality check of conductive coated flat glass plates. The cells can be used for a wide range of electrochemistry experimental set-ups.

KMZ5 Water-jacketed Corrosion Cell
The ASTM G5 Corrosion Cell is a one-litre electrochemical cell designed for electrochemical corrosion measurements. The ASTM G5 is similar to the cell specified in ASTM G5 “Making Potentiostatic and Potentiodynamic Anodic Polarization Measurements”. It contains a fixture to secure the corrosion sample to a 3-48 threaded support rod. A Reference Electrode Bridge Tube is provided to contain the Saturated Calomel Reference Electrode, included with the ASTM G5. The Corrosion Cell also contains two graphite Counter Electrodes. Capabilty for deaeration of the electrolyte is also included.
The ASTM G5 incorporates a clever mounting system for the Working Electrode that allows adjustment of the vertical position. This makes it easy to orient the tip of the Reference Electrode Bridge Tube so that it is close to the surface of the Working Electrode.
